We are in desperate need of a reset, and we need it now. My friends are feeling utterly disheartened by the current state of the game. They don’t have the luxury of devoting 10 hours a day to this endeavor. While they can run solo, it hardly brings joy when your comrades are available online.
The heart of the matter is that they should not have to grind through goblin caves for endless hours just to be adequately equipped for a castle expedition. If you aren’t choosing the rogue path, you’re vulnerable to relentless assaults by fully equipped bard and cleric teams boasting epic and blue gear. After only a few hours of trying, my friends threw in the towel. Multiple runs yield only a few greens and perhaps a solitary blue item, leaving them defenseless against the relentless juggernauts who dedicate 16-hour days to the Dark and Darker.
My frustration isn’t aimed at the fervent players; it’s at the fact that, without gear resets, these dedicated players become barriers for newcomers or those with limited hours to spare. As drop rates are even lower than during play tests, achieving meaningful progress has become nigh impossible. Even attempts to gather ores in peaceful evasion are thwarted by organized three-person teams bent on monopolizing resources. They’re caught in a loop of hiding in shadows, clutching a solitary green item, and praying that the relentless 16-hour squad doesn’t stumble upon them before they find a blue portal.
The journey to gear advancement should not be this elongated, as it unfairly restricts countless individuals from engaging with these monstrously over-equipped trios. It’s doubtful that my friends, after today, anticipate revisiting this game in the near future, following an array of consecutive matches where a trio of a barb, cleric, and bard decimated the entire lobby.
My own enjoyment suffered as well; even my proficient rogue could offer no solace to my companions. Castle endeavors have devolved into pointless pursuits. At this juncture, their sole option is to adopt a lone rogue stance within goblin caves. However, I suspect this prospect does not excite many, yet it’s become their only viable route.
We urge for swift action – a restart that levels the playing field anew. It’s the only way to rejuvenate our enthusiasm and hope for an engaging and equitable experience once more, more Dark and Darker Gold rewards.
